Sydney turns up the colour for HYPERBLOOM
Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras returns from 12 February to 7 March 2027, bringing more than three weeks of celebration, culture, community and self-expression to the city.
The 2027 theme, HYPERBLOOM, sets the tone for a festival shaped by colour, visibility, joy and connection. While the full program is still to come, the season will once again stretch across Sydney with parties, performances, community events and some of Mardi Gras’ most-loved traditions.
If Mardi Gras is already on your 2027 plans, now is a good time to start thinking about where you want to stay.
Two dates already worth saving
A couple of the festival’s biggest moments are already confirmed. Fair Day returns on Sunday 14 February, bringing the community together for one of the most relaxed and colourful days of the Mardi Gras calendar.
Then on Saturday 6 March, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade returns for the night that brings Oxford Street and its surrounds to life with music, movement, pride and thousands of people lining the route.
The full 2027 program will be announced closer to the festival, with plenty more still to come between those two dates.
Stay for more than one night
Mardi Gras is not just Parade night. With events spread across several weeks and different parts of Sydney, staying in the city gives you room to dip in and out of the festival without trying to fit everything into one evening.
From Hotel Woolstore 1888 in Pyrmont, Darling Harbour, the CBD and wider city are easy to reach, giving you a comfortable base between plans. Head out for the day, return for a breather, stop at Percy before the next event, then do it all again tomorrow.
For the busiest weekends, particularly around Fair Day and Parade night, booking early is well worth considering.
