Sydney Comedy Festival 2027
Five weeks. A lot of reasons to laugh.
Sydney Comedy Festival is back from 12 April to 16 May 2027, taking stand-up, satire and everything in between to stages right across the city.
The first names are already out, with Arj Barker, Mel Buttle, Denise Scott, Jimeoin, Connor Burns, and Luke Heggie among the comedians appearing in 2027. And that is only the beginning, with hundreds more acts still to be announced as the Festival builds towards its full program launch in March.
There are also two major Festival Galas on the calendar, at Enmore Theatre on 19 April and Sydney Opera House on 25 April, bringing established names, festival favourites and new comedians together for one big night.
Pick a show. Then probably pick another.
That is usually how Sydney Comedy Festival goes. A single ticket has a habit of turning into dinner beforehand, another show later in the week, or a last-minute addition when someone tells you who they saw the night before.
The Festival stretches across venues and neighbourhoods throughout Sydney, from major theatres to smaller comedy rooms. The Comedy Crawl will also return in 2027, taking stand-up out of the theatre and into a rotating mix of bars, pubs and neighbourhood venues, with locations and comedians still to be announced.
For the latest lineup, show dates and tickets, keep an eye on the official Sydney Comedy Festival website.
Dinner first. Punchlines later.
If your show starts after dark, there is plenty of time to begin the evening at Percy.
Order a few Spanish-inspired plates for the middle of the table, have a drink, then head out once it is time to find your seat. With the Festival spread across the city, Hotel Woolstore 1888 gives you a Pyrmont base that keeps Darling Harbour and the CBD close while leaving you well placed to head further afield for shows in Enmore, Moore Park and beyond.
And if the night ends with another drink back at Percy, even better.
A good excuse for a Sydney weekend
Sydney Comedy Festival runs for five weeks, but popular comedians and weekend dates can fill quickly.
If you are travelling into Sydney for a particular show, or planning a weekend around a few of them, it is worth securing your stay early. From Hotel Woolstore 1888, you can build the weekend around the Festival rather than one venue, with plenty happening around Pyrmont and Darling Harbour between shows.
