Sydney Festival 2027
A city-wide celebration of art, music and ideas, unfolding across Sydney each summer
Sydney Festival returns from 8 to 25 January 2027, filling the city with theatre, dance, music, art, performance and unexpected experiences across some of Sydney’s best-known cultural spaces.
The 2027 program brings together Australian and international artists across venues including Sydney Opera House, Carriageworks, Barangaroo Reserve, Belvoir St Theatre, City Recital Hall and the new Powerhouse Parramatta, alongside free and outdoor experiences across the city.
Whether you build an entire weekend around the program or simply add a show to a summer night in Sydney, there is plenty happening throughout January.
What’s on at Sydney Festival 2027
This year’s program spans close to 100 events, with contemporary dance, theatre, live music, immersive installations and major new Australian works all part of the mix. Highlights include international theatre and dance, Sydney-made performances, First Nations music and storytelling, interactive outdoor installations and a program of free events for families.
With performances happening across multiple venues and precincts, the best way to plan your visit is to explore the full program on the Sydney Festival website and build your own itinerary.

Spend the afternoon exploring the city, head out for an evening performance, then return to the Woolstore for a drink or late bite at Percy.
And with the Festival running for more than two weeks, there is plenty of reason to stay a little longer and make a proper Sydney summer break of it.
