Sydney Marathon 2026
One of the world’s most scenic marathons
Each year, thousands of runners take to the streets of Sydney for the TCS Sydney Marathon, a spectacular race that winds through some of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
Now officially part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, the Sydney event has quickly earned a place among the world’s most celebrated road races. The course offers a rare opportunity to run across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, pass the Sydney Opera House, and experience the energy of the city as thousands of spectators line the streets.
After a record-breaking 2025 race that saw nearly 33,000 runners cross the finish line, the 2026 edition is set to be even bigger.
A course that showcases Sydney
The TCS Sydney Marathon is known as one of the most visually striking marathon courses in the world. Starting on the north side of the harbour, runners cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge before weaving through the CBD and along the harbour foreshore.
Along the way, participants pass historic neighbourhoods, waterfront parks and some of Sydney’s most famous city views before finishing near the Opera House in a moment many runners describe as unforgettable. Alongside the full marathon, the event weekend typically includes a 10km race, a mini marathon and family-friendly fun runs, making it a celebration of running that welcomes participants of all levels.
Stay close to the finish line
Located in Pyrmont near Darling Harbour, Hotel Woolstore 1888 offers a comfortable and well-connected base for runners and supporters visiting Sydney for marathon weekend. After race day, it’s easy to wind down with a relaxed meal at Percy, stretch out tired legs with a walk along the waterfront, or simply rest in the calm of the hotel’s heritage surroundings.
The next morning, start the day slowly with breakfast at Percy before exploring more of the city. Whether you’re here to run, cheer or simply soak up the atmosphere, marathon weekend is one of the most exciting times to experience Sydney.
